The royal elephants - Babar, Celeste and that rascal Arthur - in needlepoint.  3 canvases by Erica Wilson, purchased from her former shop on Madison Avenue, New York City.  These charming elephants from the beloved de Brunhoff series depict the royals at play.  Babar rides an old fashioned bicycle, Arthur plays the trumpet, Celeste stands under a yellow umbrella.  The Celeste canvas partially completed in cotton floss - her head, arms and dress haven’t been stitched.  The other 2 are unstitched.  13 mesh; each canvas 18 x 18”, 14” image.   A rare and precious grouping.
