This is an antique Boehm battery powered otoscope. The instrument and its wires are in good condition, and work, but the box interior shows signs of having fittings removed and other ones attached in a fairly crude fashion. The contacts in the box do not match the contacts on the instrument, although they can be made to work. The attachments that go in the ear are probably not the ones that came with this handset, as the metal is a different tone. I'm certain that this was used as it is, but also that it was jury rigged by the physician out of at least two sets. It was apparently made to use 2 D cell batteries- I didn't have any, but propped up some C cells in there and they worked. Both the bulb in the handset and the spare work. The C cell batteries are of couse not included
