Quickie
Type:
Single-seat light sporting aircraft of canard configuration.
Wings:
Tapered cantilever shoulder-wing monoplane. Dihedral from roots. Two unidirectional glassfiber spars and shaped low-density rigid foam core, covered with glassfiber. Constant cord inboard ailerons. No flaps.
Foreplane:
Tapered and slightly sweptback cantilever foreplane, mounted low on forward fuselage. Marked anhedral. Construction similar to that of wings. Main-wheel housings attached to tips. Full span tapered elevator/flaps.
Fuselage:
Semi-monocoque structure of banana shape, formed from 25 mm (1 inch) thick foam, with glassfiber covering inside and out, and tapered towards rear. Foam/glassfiber sandwich bulkheads.
Tail Unit:
Cantilever sweptback vertical fin and narrow chord of similar construction to wings.
Landing Gear:
Non-retractable tailwheel type. Main-wheels positioned at tips of foreplane in swept fairings. A kit to provide 50% larger types for grass field operations is optional. Steerable tailwheel and the fuselage.
Power Plant:
One modified Onan horizontally opposed two-cylinder four-stroke engine, developing originally 13.5 kW (18 hp) at 3,600 rpm and driving a two-blade fix-pitch wooden propeller. Modifications to cylinder heads and exhaust system allowed newly supplied engines to developed 16.4 kW (22 hp) at 3,800 rpm: a retrofit kit is available to convert 13.5 kW (18 hp) engines to develop this increased output. Fuel capacity 30.3 liters (8 US gallons). Fuel consumption approximately 44.2 km/liter (104 mi/US gallon).
Accommodation:
Single seat under one-piece side-hinged canopy. Cockpit suitable for pilot up to 1.98 m (6 ft 6 in) tall and weighing up to 95 kg (210 lb). Max baggage capacity with lighter pilot 13.6 kg (30 lb). With the engine developing 16.4 kW (22 hp), a 100 kg (220 lb) pilot, maximum fuel, and 5.4 kg (12 lb) of baggage can be carried.
